What do you, fellow humans, think is the best way to update an illustration on DeviantArt? What follows is my overthinking... The reason for asking is that I often update my illustrations a fair bit; to either improve scientific accuracy or artistic rendering. In addition, some of my illustrations are used on Wikipedia, so I feel it's important to keep those in line with current thinking. Sometimes an update will be a minor artistic touch-up/correction that I don't mind updating over the original. Hi all, So, I have been thinking about changing part of my Melanorosaurus painting. On the left of the picture is a rock face. In terms of the way it's painted it's one of my favourite parts of the image. But I think It ruins it compositionally. It looks a bit unnatural, and it follows the line of the Malanorosaurus neck, which looks funny. So would anyone object if I changed that part of the image? The reason I ask is because I don't want to upload a new version of the image. I'd rather just upload over the original, so it might be...unfair to those who faved it in its original state. Although I am not certain, the earliest memory of anything dinosaur related is my mum buying a dinosaur magazine called DINOSAURS! at the age of 6/7. It was issue 13 which I still have. It has a brightly coloured John Sibbick Parasaurolophus on the front. The issue was copyrighted in 1993 the same year Jurassic Park came out (so I'm asuming thats about the year I received it).
