Description
Tsintaosaurus, drinking by a lake.
Based proportionally on a Gregory S. Paul skeletal drawing. Pencil drawing and extensive Photoshop work.
Edit History:
30/06/2007: [These comments were made regarding the original submission in 2007 and no longer apply.] I think I can guarantee the skull is wrong. The reference was very low res and most images of this animal's skull seem to show it isn't completely known. I'll happily change it when I can get better references. Also, other hadrosaurs are known to have small square dermal spines above each vertebra spine, so it's possible Tsintaosaurus had them too. When I get some time I'll try add them.
Update 21/04/2011: Just a few tweaks, cleaned up a few things, added a pattern, added dermal spines. etc.
Update 22/05/2013: Corrected tail shape, changed posture.
Update 06/12/2013: Changed the skull to the recent reconstruction by Prieto-Márquez and Wagner 2013.

It looks quite nice. Though possibly a bit skinny. Some mummies have shown that the tail end of Hadrosaurs was a lot fatter than people thought. More specifically a mummy of Brachylophosaurus.
If you want higher res reference. Here's the original publication on the bell shaped crest on Tsintaosaurus. It includes some nice big pictures and photos.
