Shuvuuia deserti

Shuvuuia deserti...... in a desert.

I've been working on this on and off for a few weeks. I'm worried that I've seen very something similar..but I'm not sure where??

Created in Photoshop. I used Jamie Headden's skeletal as a reference.

Update: Narrowed down head.

Note: According to a comment below the arm orientation might be incorrect! Apparently, there is a paper that shows that some Alvarezsaurids arms stuck straight out from the side of the body and this may effect this animal. In the future, if I can find the paper, I'll correct it!

Update: This has changed a fair bit. The arms are now corrected (at least I hope they are) and it has lost a bit of weight; well, I reduced the feathering and narrowed down the pelvis and ribcage.

The new arms are somewhat annoying. It now looks like a gunslinger. DRAW! Or maybe and Egyptian painting. Anyhow they make the pose look more static and artificial.

Update 07/04/2011: I have changed the colour. The original image had blue feathers; blue is apparently unlikely in dinosaurs with simple dino-fuzz. Blue is a structural colour that can't be created by pigment. Simple monofilaments, like hair, pterosaur pycnofibers and possibly primitive dino-fuzz, don't have enough structure to create Blues or Greens. 

There are experiments that suggest that feather preservation in fossil animals might be biased toward simple looking feathers. Modern birds with modern complex feathering put in a press produce hairy looking creatures. It could be that Shuvuuia had more complex feathering than shown here; in which case, blue could be a plausible colour.
